The purpose of an audition

Placement is a recommendation—not a ranking.

The goal is to understand the dancer’s current training, learning habits, performance qualities, and readiness for a particular commitment.

A stronger fit gives dancers the best chance to contribute, be challenged, and grow alongside the team. Current availability varies by program and level.

Level

Current technique, coordination, musicality, pickup, and performance tools.

Mindset

Focus, response to feedback, effort, professionalism, and teamwork.

Readiness

Audition FAQ

Understand the commitment before accepting the placement.

Current audition dates are not posted here. Contact the studio for active availability.

Do dancers need experience to audition?

Dancers at different starting points may inquire. Auditions assess current level, mindset, and readiness so the team can recommend an appropriate pathway; placement is not guaranteed.

How many days per week will a dancer train?

Commitment varies by pathway. Current published guidance lists about four hours plus a weekly rehearsal for AscenDance, 10–14 hours per week for Company, and a high-commitment industry-focused path for Pro Squad.

Is travel required?

Some pathways include local and travel events. Review the expectations for the recommended team before accepting placement.

What additional costs should we expect?

Team, competition, convention, costume, choreography, travel, and related costs can vary by pathway and season. Ask for the current written commitment and fee information before accepting placement.

Can a dancer still do other activities?

That depends on the team schedule and the other activity. Team attendance, rehearsals, and events require consistency, so discuss conflicts before committing.

What if a dancer is not ready for Company?

The Performance Team can provide a more introductory team experience. Placement should match where the dancer can train, contribute, and grow successfully.
